How to Find Your Appliance’s Model Number (So You Don’t Have to Guess)

“What’s your model number?” is nearly always the first question when you call about an appliance, and nearly everyone answers the same way: they don’t know. That’s completely normal — here’s where to actually look, and why it matters less than you might think when you call us.

Where Model Numbers Actually Hide

• Refrigerators: inside the fridge compartment, often on the wall near the top, or behind the crisper drawers
• Washers and dryers: inside the door frame, or on a sticker on the back panel
• Dishwashers: on the side of the door frame, visible when the door is open
• Ovens and ranges: inside the door frame, or behind a drawer at the bottom

The label is usually a small white or silver sticker with a long string of letters and numbers — that’s the one you want, not the serial number sometimes printed right next to it (though having both never hurts).

What to Do If You Genuinely Can’t Find It

Some labels fade, get painted over during a remodel, or sit somewhere genuinely awkward to reach. If you’ve looked in the obvious spots and still can’t find it, don’t spend twenty minutes disassembling anything to get to it.

Why We Don’t Need It Ahead of Time

A technician who sees the actual appliance in person can identify the model and pull up the right specs on-site — that’s a normal part of the visit, not an inconvenience. Knowing your model number ahead of time speeds up a phone quote, but it’s never a requirement to get help.

What’s More Useful Than the Model Number
